Northern Ethanol Inc., is a public reporting company under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended. The objective of the organization is to become a low-cost leader in the production, marketing and sale of ethanol and other renewable fuels in the Eastern United States and Canada.

The company’s initial goal is to construct three facilities to produce ethanol and its co-products, specifically DDGS and CO2, for sale in Ontario, the Northeastern United States and Europe.

“We believe that, once production begins from our 100-million-gallon-per-year ethanol plants in Barrie and Sarnia, Ontario, we will be the largest producer of ethanol in Canada,” stated Natalie Horrell, director of corporate relations for Northern Ethanol. Northern Ethanol is also in advanced discussions for their third 100–million-gallon-per-year ethanol plant in the upstate New York area.

Horrell added, “Northern Ethanol supports the development of E85. We would like to see consumers being offered E85 as an alternative to regular gas or even 10 percent blend. To further promote the use of E85 there needs to be a partnership with all three levels of government, municipal, provincial and Canada. One of the easiest ways to do that is to work with the provinces or Federal government and have them commit to use E85 in all of their vehicles where practical. This would allow a refiner to support the installation of E85 pumps as there would be assured volume. Another option would be to reorganize taxes on gasoline with scaled carbon tax (on the petroleum portion of gasoline) that leaves E85 with virtually no tax.”
